Rental Terms & Regulations
Below you will find the conditions for the rental of any boat of Kavala Boat Rental "Meet the Mermaid". We recommend that you read the Terms & Conditions of Use of Rental Boats because you will be asked to sign an affirmation that you understand and agree to the following upon pick up of the boat.
BOAT RENTAL TERMS & REGULATIONS
LESSOR

The lessee must be at least 23 years of age, as evidenced by a valid passport or other official ID. Must be physically able to perform the tasks required to safely operate a boat and our staff must be able to communicate enough to ensure he/she understands the rental agreement and the safe operation of the boat.
We reserve the right to refuse to hire anyone if our staff feel that they are not able to safely operate our boats or understand the terms of the hire contract.
OPERATOR

The operation of the boat must be carried out solely by the main hirer. Anyone who can serve as an operator must be identified and sign this agreement. Should the hirer allow anyone else to use the boat, they are solely personally responsible for any damage caused to our boat or to third parties.

The lessee/operator does NOT need to hold a speedboat license.
RESERVATION

For the rental it is necessary to book at least 1-2 days in advance by phone, email or on the website www.kavalaboatrental.com.

In order to complete the reservation of a boat you have to pay 50% of the total amount of the fare in advance. The remaining 50% is paid as soon as you pick up the boat.

Prices include: Insurance, ice cooler, swimming ladder, all rescue - firefighting equipment, according to Greek legislation and depending on the type of boat, GPS using app, anchor, awning and sound system
PICK UP OF BOAT

Kavala Boat Rental agrees: that the boat will be delivered, without crew, floating, clean, ready for sea, with all the tools and equipment specified by the Hellenic Coast Guard and in proper operation and sailing condition.

The lessee shall be liable to the lessor for any material damage to the vessel or loss of equipment and shall be required to personally pilot the vessel and assume all obligations for the pilotage of the vessel. In the event of loss of the vessel's equipment, the lessee shall bear the corresponding costs.

The lessee must be at the meeting point at least 20 minutes before the agreed time of pick up of the boat. Otherwise he/she must inform the company staff in time and change the date/time of booking according to availability.

On the day of the rental, it is essential that the lessee and the other passengers carry an identity card or other identification document (passport or driving license).

Before sailing, the lessee is obliged to check that the equipment mentioned in the rental agreement he/she signs is in perfect condition and thus must be returned.

The boat is delivered with a full tank of fuel (fuel is not included in the rental price).
LEGISLATION

The lessee and other passengers are obliged to comply with all laws and regulations of the Coast Guard - Hellenic Coast Guard. The lessee is personally responsible for any damage to our boats, other boats or other property caused by the violation of the safe navigation regulations.

It is illegal for boat operators to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind. In the event that a reservation has been made and the renter is found to be under the influence of alcohol, we will be forced to deny the use of the boat and a cancellation fee will be charged.
DISTANCES - DESTINATIONS

The boat must not be taken outside the designated area. Indicated maps are available on board or the lessee can ask our staff for instructions. There must be a working activated mobile phone on board so that we can be contacted for emergencies or to report weather information. Boats are equipped with GPS locators.

The allowable distance is at least 200 meters from shore, swimmers and buoys when the boat is developing high speed.

The boat is prohibited from going further than 3 miles from shore.

The lessee must come to an agreement with the lessor on the intended course to be taken so that fuel is always in surplus.
PASSENGERS
-
Boats are intended for use by a certain number - weight of passengers and equipment. They must not be overloaded, in case of an inspection you will be fined by the Hellenic Coast Guard. There should be a proper distribution of people on the boats, evenly distributed in weight both side to side and front to back. This makes safer sailing and ensures that the bow keeps its correct position at sea.

Passengers should know how to swim in the sea.

All passengers should wear life jackets.

All passengers are advised to be seated during the course of the trip for safety reasons.

Minors should be accompanied by their parents/adults.
USAGE
-
The lessee is responsible to be aware of the streams and winds. The boat must not be anchored on the shore or left alone at anchor without supervision.

The bottom of the coastline is rocky in the area ( there is a risk of damaging the boat). To avoid damage, the boat operator must follow the following procedure:

The speed of the boat should be reduced to at least 5 knots at a distance of approximately 50 metres from the shore.

When disembarking on a shore, the operator shall switch off the engine and raise the boat to a standby position at least 20 metres from the shore. The approach shall be cautious and the operator shall always be alert to the seabed for any rocks.

The use of an anchor is compulsory for any beach landing.
-
It is forbidden to drag the boat out to shore, or any contact with the bottom or ground.

The operator is the last to go down after ensuring that the boat is anchored and that the engine is safely raised with the propeller up.
INSURANCE
-
All our boats have third party liability cover against accidental damage to third parties but you have the option of requesting that we provide you with mixed insurance for an extra cost.
PETS
-
Pets are allowed on the boats upon request, the owners are responsible for cleaning, otherwise cleaning fees will be charged. Owners are responsible for any damage caused by their pets.
RETURN OF THE BOAT

The boat must be returned on time relatively clean and in the same condition as it was when received by us. Inspect the boat carefully before picking it up, as you will be charged for any further damage on return.

Any damage to equipment caused as a result of the lessee's operation or failure to supervise is the sole responsibility of the lessee. Boats must not be left unattended.

Fuel is measured at the time of delivery. The refueling of the boat is undertaken by us. The cost of fuel is the sole responsibility of the lessee.
CANCELLATION POLICY

Transfer of the charter to another date when the boat is available for cancellations made up to 10 days prior to the scheduled cruise departure are acceptable.
-
Commitment of the deposit for cancellations made less than 48 hours after the scheduled cruise departure.

The vessel shall be chartered and sailing shall be carried out as normal when the wind speed at the point of pick-up does not exceed the permitted limits and when the port authorities allow it. In case of adverse weather conditions, which prohibit sailing on the day of the start of the rental, the deposit will be refunded and the rental will be postponed to another day if you wish.
PROHIBITED USE
Lessees must not use the boat in any of the following ways:
a. In any kind of race or competitive event
b. For any illegal purpose or in an illegal manner
c. To transport any type of dangerous or explosive substances
d. To push or tow any other watercraft or tubes, skis or other water toys.
E. After dusk or during the night
F. To carry cargo in excess of the stated capacity
g. In a reckless, abusive or negligent manner
h. By any person consuming alcohol or drugs
i. If further use may cause damage to the boat or engine (warning light or buzzer on)
j. In violation of the terms and conditions of this Agreement in any way.
k. Outside the approved area of use

Under no circumstances may the client sublet the boat to another natural or legal person. The client's rights under this agreement are not transferable.

If the vessel is obtained by fraud or false declaration, used for an illegal purpose or in breach of these terms in any way, all rights to use the vessel are revoked. In any such case, Kavala Boat Rental has the right to immediately seize the boat and retain all rental fees and charge the customer for any damage to the boat.

If any provision of this agreement is found to be invalid, or unenforceable, such finding shall not affect the validity of any other part of this agreement.

This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement of the parties with respect to the subject matter contained herein and supersedes all other agreements, oral or written, with respect to the same subject matter. This Agreement shall be binding on the heirs, successors and assigns of the Parties.

Any dispute between Kavala Boat Rental "Meet the Mermaid" and the lessee, which cannot be resolved amicably, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kavala, Greece.
